Iron-on Trim/ribbon?

I have made a large patchwork quilt for my niece who is due to have a large operation. I have used a contrasting fabric to bind it, but unfortunately I haven't got it quite even, so when I sew it down in the front, it doesn't always catch the back and at some points can even be about 1cm away from the edge of the binding.

I have stitched the binding down at the back, so it doesn't matter if it doesn't completely catch, but it looks unattractive and very amateur.

Is there such a thing as a fusible/iron-on ribbon? I was thinking of some sort of trim to put on the back to cover my switches (sitting beside the binding) - bit it will need to be iron-on or I will replicate the problem on the front!

Any ideas?

What about a bit of applique instead? Only because iron on ribbon (if it exists) will probably peel off after a while. You could do small motiffs...a flower or leaf...a heart...something simple.

Hi User,
That's a good idea, except that it will go through to the front, as the two sides are now stitched together? I did find some fusible bias binding, which I thought i could use opened up ? I can't face unpicking the whole thing!!

How about fusible bias tape, like that which is used for stained glass quilting? I bought some from the Stitch Witch. It comes in different colours.

Can you sort of "catch" the stitches just through one layer? A bit labour intensive mind.
