Crocheters - what do you do with what you make?

Hi,

I'm just starting out with crochet. I have a few aims for when I get the hang of it. I want to make each of my children a blanket they can keep forever - I have one that my grandma made me, and I love it. This might take a few years. I also want to do a massive Christmas blanket for us all to snuggle under and watch Christmas films and read Christmas books. That one's for next Christmas, nowhere enlarge that standard yet! I might do a few cushion covers, but what do you do when you've made what you wanted? Does everybody get crocheted gifts? Is your entire house crochet? I just have an image of continually making things for the home and eventually getting sick of the sight of crochet!

I give a lot away, make stuff for the woolly hugs charity sales, sell a few bits and have a large collection of shawls. I'm more a knitter, but I guess the same principle applies!

I've made a few blankets, other things like hats and wrist warmers.
Crochet bags and storage bags.

Also stuff for Woolly Hugs.

You may well find that people want you to crochet them stuff. I was a bit worried my house would be woollen and I'd be foisting the surplus on people but actually I've had a few requests (couple of blankets, scarves). I've not done too much for the interior (massive bedspread, couple of throws, some christmas decorations, advent calendar) and have moved on to my wardrobe really (slippers, other accessories). I think if I get into cardigans etc it'll just be me up to my ears in it and not my entire world...

I've looked at the woolly hugs projects. Contributing in the future might be an idea. And I could hope for lots of people to have babies so I can make things!

Actually, can socks be crocheted? I love a pair of comfy socks when I'm lounging around at home.

Ravelry is a good website with lots of ideas and good for keeping track of what's on your 'to do' list.

You can crochet socks, I've done a couple of pairs. They don't have as much stretch to them as knitted ones though

I do (requested) presents, like gloves and Pokemon characters. Crocheted food for toddler group and as I crochet some toys just because I like the look of them I build up a little collection then sell it there and donate the money back to the group.
