Any suggestions how to make a princess/fairy canopy for over a bed?

I've got 2 pink patterned see through panels from Ikea that used to be up in my dd's room. They always got in the way so we've taken them down. I wondered whether I could use them to make one of those canopy circle things for over her bed as the panels are very long but I don't know what to do/where to start or where to look for instructions?
What would I use for the circle things that bunch the curtains together?
I think its a good idea but my knowledge and expertise, as you can see, don't match up. Help please

I think you might be able to buy those circle things - maybe somewhere like John Lewis's?

Make the drapes by heming a piece of fabric then sewing/clipping onto a hula hoop. Hang the hoop using cord onto a hook on the wall. To make top cover part, take a piece of fabric, length = measurement from hoop up to hook doubled. Width = measurement from hoop up to hook. But piece would need to be cut into semicircular shape. Attach middle of straight edge to hook and circular edge to hoop. I think this makes sense!!??

I'm going to JL tomorrow so I could have a quick look in the curatins dept otherwise a hula hoop is a good idea.
I don't undertsand the second bit of your suggestion DD07 as reagrds the length - why is the length the measurement between hoop and hook doubled? I failed arithmetic twice at 0'grade so be gentle and don't be afraid of talking to me like I'm 8.

If not the hula hoop idea...-

two bits of dowling (wood) hanging from ceiling with ribbon over hooks each end of the bed with the material draped over, like a canopy.

Or get one for a £5 from ikea?

or you could make a canopy along these lines with a bit of bamboo or just a straight piece of wood - no cutting of fabric required, just sew the two drapes together at the top, hang rod from ceiling by ends over head of bed and drape fabric over rod. Tie back at wall each side if you like or leave loose.

or this is really easy

so's this

In the IKEA I work in we have a canopy over one of the childrens beds using a pair of Minnen curtains. The 'loop' is made by using two ends from one of the shower rods (the right angled bits from this one I think)

For the top canopy bit, you are using a semi-circle of fabric. The straight edge of which will go against the wall, starting on the hula hoop, going up to the hook and down to the hula hoop the other side. That's why the length measurement is twice the distance from the hoop to hook (diameter of a full circle). You'll only need this length once from the hook to the front of the hula hoop (radius of the circle).

Hope this is easier to understand!!
