If I dye grey curtains navy and spray with bleach

Will I get awful yellow spots?

I want bright white.

Any ideas?

dd did this to a black t shirt...she got orangey flecks. It does look okay, but not sure you will get bright white.

can you dab bleach onto the grey and see where that goes? Before wasting money on dye.

Also, what fabric are they, I think you'll only get blotches if they are cotton and dyed, man made fabrics react differently..

Er..... get a scrap of the same or similar grey material and do a test.

In all honesty, I think you'll end up with and ugly mess.

Do you want a starry sky effect? Perhaps dye them navy then glue/sew on sequins, glitter, sparkly bits?

Excuse - yes, that's the sort of effect I'm looking for - I want a sort of scattered effect at the bottom - I've not the patience to sew thousands of beads on though

I can't use a scrap bit to cut it off and dye it and try it as they're curtains and I only have one machine dye.

Anything else I could add to get a spray effect? What's white? If there was such a thing as a cross stitch machine I could do little crosses - but I'm not individually seeing them on

White fabric paint? Tippex?

Yes, white fabric paint might work - maybe if I could get a paint pen of some kind and draw dots or crosses

How about dots of wax before dying? I'm thinking a batik-ish thing?? The dye shouldn't take where the wax is so you would have gray stars? Would work best with white curtains I think!

White fabric paint and a toothbrush, spray it on using your finger maybe?

I think paint is a better idea.

I did "reverse tye dye" on some vests earlier this summer and the results were varied insofar as whether I got white or off white.

If you bleach it enough to destroy the dye, you will also weaken the fabric. Fine for a one off costume (but I doubt it would go white), but for something with a longer life, like curtains, I think it would result in holes.

I actually did this by accident once when our bastard of a darling cat pissed up the curtains. The splodge was sort of off white/cream
