Can anyone reccommend or suggest a Bra making course?

DD & think this would actually save us money plus help with our 'fit' issues & DD's Dance issues (I think she imagines an inbuilt bra in every leotard fat chance )

I have seen a corset making course & it was eye-wateringly expensive - so I do know I will have to save up for it

But where do I start?

I always go to craftsy for courses. Not very sociable I know but usually cheap and you can watch them again and again (I download them to my iPad).

I may combine that with something else; an actual course plus an online one (or two or three)

My goodness there are lots of bra tutorials!!

There are 3 different bra tutorials for about £85

The course I am looking at it is £178 plus travel and accommodation (so maybe another £90 in acc plus £35 in petrol)

So I'd have to spend less than £200 on material & bits to make at least 2 bras

Even allowing for wasting some stuff that makes good sense

IF I cna learn from a tutorial

I really rate Craftsy Katy. I did their sloper courses and still watch them in a bored moment even now, just because they are on my iPad.

Before that I did a pattern grading course that was really useful, there are pdfs full of guidance/practice materials and even patterns to download. Really good value imo.

I also did the knits course when I first bought an overlocker, it included five or six patterns of things to make for about £15. Once you are registered with them the e-mails flow with special offer announcements.

I only bought one to begin with to see how much I liked it. Different instructors have different presenting styles and I prefer some more than others but for the cost I think they are fab.

Now, don't get me wrong I would love some local sewing friends but an equivalent course would cost £200 and I couldn't watch it again and again.

& if you want a holiday on the broads you can always come & stay! and bring your sewing machine

What is great is that the pattern is posted to your house on those sorts of courses, no driving, parking, etc., etc..

A couple of weeks ago I just ordered a pattern, completely free, from Craftsy, a vogue pattern - no idea why it was free but it came in the post from the US.

TBH I think my biggest problem if I go with craftsy will be buying all the kit

Some of the equipment/materials looks very specialised

Anyway off to bed tomorrow is an upholstery day!

Dunno - but I like the free stuff on the other site for a corset (for DD not me....I don't think I am corset shape) but I'd like to get the bras sorted first

I think I will order the courses one at a time (in case I don't get on with it)

& try & find the 'kit' I need

It suggests to not buy the bra pattern until you have watched the first part of the video

I'm going on a course, my mum has helped out & they have a cancellation this weekend

I bought the bra course on craftsy but I haven't made one yet.
It linked to a site where you could buy a kit to go with the class, so I've got one of those ready to go. Just need to lose a bit more weight first

I've driven 140 miles (ish) to sleep over at my aunties & I have another 55 each way for tomorrow & Sunday.....then I get to come home and I have work on Monday!!

But I am a kinesthetic learner so I think this is a good start for me

Also... Keep an eye out for the (regular) promotions where Craftsy let you choose one free course, if you sign up. I've seen these a couple of times in the past year or so.
