To adapt this dress - possibly with black & bronze (& maybe gold I'm not sure yet) crystals?

There are lots of people who sell things on Katy, don't feel bad about that. Is your plan to be in a position where you are taking a rail of clothes somewhere to sell?

If so it could easily be pieces like this together with things you have made. I go to a coffee shop that sells nice used clothes, just has a rail in an adjacent room.

Not sure on sizing.

No - really I want people to bring me stuff they need tweaking or making or embellishing dancewear or alterations or curtains or upholstery or anything really

I just need stuff to show people & this doesn't

This is something I made out of a couple of old Tshirts - I hated them as my bra straps showed so I made sleeves and sewed the 2 fronts together - then there were no bra straps

I've just taken 5 inches out of the waist of the red/black & added 5 inches to the bust of the grey both a size 8 & I'm about to take half an inch out of a 12 to make it fit the same person

I do so love current sizing policy!

I'm still not a fan. The original dress looks fine. If you did want to 'do' something with it then the other posters comment about splitting it sounds great but I'd go for more of a Steampunk look than covering it in more lace and sequins. Think bustles and leather straps and buckles.

Katymac · 08/06/2016 22:14

That sounds interesting

I may put it on a shelf & think about it for next years prom

Cracking on with finishing my silk dress & the roman blind

Hi Katy, how is it going now?

One thing I think could be improved on is the join between the top and the skirt, I am not over keen on the "abrupt" change in fabrics. How about softening the change with some beads or sequins, sort of a graduating effect. You could tie the effect together with perhaps a few more beads around the top of the bust line or even a scattering of embellishment on the skirt.
