Single Crochet or Icord edging - Advice please

I am making a wrap in garter stitch and have seen it with a beautiful contrast coloured icord edging. But, it looks really difficult to do (Im just getting over my first experience of Kitchener stitch so need something fairly straightforward!).

I can crochet. To me, the edgings look fairly similar. Would it be okay to substitute or should I bite the bullet and learn the Icord edging?

Here is the wrap...

Hope the link works, Im not very tecchie.

TIA

The "I" in icord stands for "idiot", it's tedious in the extreme but not difficult. It looks the same on both sides (as does garter stitch) so is a good choice for something that is reversible. I'm sure that crochet would be quicker because knitted on icord takes an age.

If you do a couple of inches of each then you can decide which one you like the look of (and can stand doing) and rip out the other.

Thank you both very much, good to know that if I can't get to grips with the icord I could go with the crochet edging and it wouldn't ruin the scarf.

Poltergoose, yes I probably do mean double crochet which is the equivalent of America single crochet I think!
