Dh was at a conference and got what could be a useful bag, but I don't want to be s mobile advertising hoarding. Its a cotton bag. Would I ruin it if I try to unpick the stitching?

It depends how tight the weave is, and how big the sewing needle was.

If you unpick the cotton thread it's likely there will be holes in the fabric where the machine needle has punctured it as it stitched. However, if you machine - wash it afterwards, it's possible that the holes may close up a little.

Use a thread unpicker to unpick the stitching, and do it from the reverse side.

It will take a veeeeeeeery long time to unpick machine enbroidery.
Doable but tedious.
And it will show even after washing.

OK, I can't unpick from the reverse as the bag is lined and its not stitched through both layers. It's a heavy cotton, so looking at it more closely, I might end up picking the weave as well as the embroidery threads. I'll have a look in better light tomorrow, see if I can get a photo to upload too. Thanks for the replies.
