dsis has a friend who can organise the boxes for her, or we can make them ourselfves. i thought it would be more fun to make them. so id like to pick all the brains of all you lovely crafters.

bigshot die cut bag is this too small to fit a couple of chocolates in?

or, we could do simple pyramid held together by ribbon at the top. but im a bit concerned aboutthe wieght of the chocolates tearing the hole for the ribbon at the top. iyswim.

or ist better to buy the precut card shapes and glue those together?

winestein, food is being catered, obviously
clothes are being made
shopping is being done, and even if i was there, (wedding in pakistan) id be bloody useless, as a ive never driven in pakistan and scared shitlees sof driving thered, b i dont know the ways, and c, who would babysit my brats.
decortions being done by people who run the place.
i could help out with the llaundry and the cooking for guests coming to stay from elsewhere. but urrgghhh. dont wnt to do tht, and will probly end up doing tht anyways.

I know Stitch.. just 'avin a larf.
I understand you want to get involved - just do it the easiest way possible; whether it is related to your specific recent craft interest or not will not be the point - just that you have made them.

CHOCOLATES

in PAKISTAN?

Isn't it going to be a tad WARM there for chocolates?

winestein · 25/11/2006 23:14

cynic

(I never thought of that!)

morningpaper · 25/11/2006 23:14

Why not make her a wedding scrapbook?

You could be the official Wedding Scrapbook Person

Go around with a big posh scrapbook, get people to write messages in it, and later you can add their pics

Take a digital camera and collect souvenirs from the day - reciepts, napkins from the hotel, stolen beer-mats etc

be lovely

I recently did 130 boxes for a gala dinner, I got plain small boxes from wholesaler (florist supplier) and glued on ribbon and a 21 sequin, lined with tartan wrapping paper strip and a chunk of tablet and fudge. Very simple, wholesaler had a huge range of precut boxes ready for you to fold.

My tip for gluing stuff is to get a cool melt glue gun not a hot melt, the hot one, keeps ozzing all the time and trails glue everywhere and glue is roasting to work with. Had to use super glue for sequins though which was interesting .

For my own wedding I twisted together the stems of a paper rose and a heather and tied a little tag on with matching ribbon. You can alos use the wooden roses and finish with ribbon or gold/ silver wire twisted down the stem.

wow skribble, very rtistic.
mp, what a lovely idea. i didnt hthink of that.

its in the north of pakistan. islamabad. where it will be absolutley freezing. [no central heating, gas heaters in every room etc] and if we go to dad's village in the mountains, which we will. at least for one night, it will be snowing. i remember once when we were little trudging through aankle deep snow with no wellies on and being completly and utterly frozen.
so chocolte wont be a problem.

oooh sounds VERY chilly indeed

My working knowledge of Pakistan is very limited as you can tell

I made a scrapbook for my brother's wedding and it went down VERY well - they took it with them everywhere to show people after the wedding (who hadn't been able to attend because it was in a different country) - much more interesting for people to look at than politely cooing at boring formal photos

NomDePlume · 26/11/2006 09:36

confetti co uk do pre cut flat packed favour boxes. They are brilliant quality and are very plain so you could still customise them yourself. I used them for my wedding and they were great

NomDePlume · 26/11/2006 09:38

Boxes . Also available in white

foxtrot · 26/11/2006 10:13

just wondering, are you having to transport the favours to Pakistan? Organza bags would probably be less fragile...

Pixiefish · 26/11/2006 14:07

the big shot box is tiny and would maybe fit half an almond in it.

partybabestitch · 26/11/2006 21:28

thank you all for your help.
she likes the bags idea over the boxes. so i shall be busy now. am looking forward to bleeding fingers i also need to make some thank you cards up for her. though wont need tobe quite so many
whish me luck.....

morningpaper · 26/11/2006 21:33

hurray!

honestly, it is much easier and quicker

May I suggest using perhaps the same fabric as her dress/bridesmaid dresses (or his wedding outfit) - you can print out some lovely personalised labels on nice paper to tie on, or use little flowers or sequinned ribbon

all sorts of things you can do to make it creative

and NO GLUING! Hurray!

partybabestitch · 26/11/2006 21:38

errrr......ummm. mp, its the paper bags idea she likes. so lots of gluing..... ummmmmm.....
oh dear........

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED

Skribble · 27/11/2006 21:25

If she likes the idea of bags try a big florist suppliers. The one I go to 9Country Baskets ) has a huge selection of bags and boxes. Plus ribbons, tiny flowers, almonds round nets etc etc etc etc.

Skribble · 27/11/2006 21:31

\link{http://www.floristsuppliers.co.uk/might help you to find one}.

These are trade places but usually easy enough to join or get someone to join for you.

Bags Loads of boxes More Bags

stitch · 17/01/2007 21:21

hi all

thought id let you know how it all went.
we stuck to the little bags idea, but used the same paper as the stuff the invites were made from. took forever. but it ws great fun. had a factory line going. me scoring, someone else cutting, someone else punching holes, gluing, threading etc. made 209 bags.
was great fun! and im glad we did it. thank you mumsnet for getting me into crafting.

bettythebuilder · 17/01/2007 21:32

I remember lurking on this thread
Sounds like you did a great job. Don't suppose you took any pics of the finished bags, did you?
