Love cross stitch. What else would I love?

I have enjoyed cross stitch since my mum taught me when I was small. I stitch samplers for friends' weddings and new babies and I love it, although I never do the same design twice because that would bore me.
I think I'm as good as I can get by now and have mastered some really challenging designs, and although I will always do cross stitch I'm keen to learn something else. So what else would I like if I love cross stitch??

I was in a similar position to you in 2010, but I had always wanted to knit really. I now have some x stitch kits still their packaging and wool stash that will take me beyond old age to use. SABLE = stash acquisition beyond life expectancy.

Tapestry/needlepoint. Lots of stitches to play with, you can create different textures etc as well as the pictures.

Ooh yes, and knitting. I like cable & lace patterns in particular.

Blackwork embroidery?

Do you think I would be able to teach myself needlepoint? I think I would love that.

Oooh yes blackwork. I did that once and it was quite successful.

Patchwork and/or quilting. I've never tried this but I fancy it - when I have space to have my sewing machine out all of the time. I especially fancy freestyle quilting.

I do needlepoint as my eyesight isn't that great - I like the Jolly Red kits.

But now I have said blackwork, I might do some I haven't done it for years

Needlepoint - it's pretty simple actually. You could get a book of stitches & try a sampler, perhaps as a cushion or something. Or a bookmark, or just something to put on the wall. I did a sampler cushion cover in tapestry wool, using needlepoint stitches, years ago - still have it.

Needlepoint it is! I just finished a wedding sampler tonight and as far as I know no one else is engaged or pregnant so I'm going to use this time to master something new. I'll look up the jolly red kits. I'm quite excited now! Thanks everybody!

The Christmas stockings are lovely, proper heirloom stuff

Oh yes they're beautiful. I have two children - a 3 yr old and a 7 month old. The stockings may be my next project...!
