Addi swing crochet hook

Do you use one? I'm new to crochet (less than a month) but on my second blanket. I've been using a regular thin metal hook, but am liking the look of these. What hook do you all use?

I love them. Treat myself to a one for each new project that requires a new size Grin

I think if you're new to it then it's great as you get used to them quickly but I know some people who've crocheted for years don't like the change.

I converted to these, they're great. They do look a bit odd - a friend of mine thought it was a toothbrush at first glance Hmm

RoosterCogburn · 19/05/2015 19:22

Like DoNotDisturb I buy one each time I need a new size. I love them and find they don't give me RSI.
However, I leant one to a friend after singing its praises and she couldn't get on with it at all so I guess the only thing to do is try one and see how you get ob.

I felt like I needed a posher hook after using bog standard metal ones for years so I bought one after they were recommended on an MN hooking thread. I don't like it - my tension went to pot when I used it. I also tried a clover soft touch one and ended up giving that to my mum. I use bamboo or rosewood ones now and love them. I have still got the Addi one (4.0 mm) and I can send it to you if you want to try it. It's languishing in the bottom of my work bag.

PM me with your address Dig and I'll pop it in the post. I'm posting some Woolly Hugs stuff at the weekend so can do it then Smile

I don't like the hooks with handles. I seem to turn the hook a lot in my hand when using it so I find a handle, especially a shaped one, uncomfortable.

I keep wanting to treat myself to posh hooks but the truth is I like the cheap metal ones!

StillaChocoholic · 20/05/2015 20:43

I tried one and didn't like it, gave it to my friend instead. I have been using clover hooks pretty much since I started crocheting though so I think I'm just used to them.

DigApony · 20/05/2015 21:16

The woolly would you like a ball of drops merino extra fine or baby merino in exchange Smile

That is really kind Dig Smile A ball of baby merino would be lovely - I'll have new niece or nephew coming at Christmas and I'll be making hats and cardis galore. I'll PM you with my address tomorrow.

I find the Addi Swing very comfortable for my hand, but it makes my forearm ache. I think perhaps it encourages me to hold my wrist at an odd angle. The hooks that I use the most are my Tulip hooks, but I also like the soft handled Knit Pro hooks.

BitterChocolate · 20/05/2015 21:32

It's also worth considering these to see whether you suit soft-handled hooks. Quite a few people in my crochet group really like them and they are a very good price.
