I need to buy one

it will be for stuff like small cards, nothing large.

where can I buy, what is good, is there some issue around pouches? Are they easy to use or will they make my house smell of charred plastic?

TIA

I've used a few different ones at work and school. The only problem I've encountered is sometimes the pouches buckle or blister, which is VERY annoying as it spoils your work.

I think it would be worth buying one that will accommodate A3 size pouches in case you ever want to use them

ok...and ta, dior...um...but listen, I dont know anything here. I don't even know how they work. I just know I am spending too much time faffing with sticky back plastic.

I suspect there is a similar thing going on to printers? So there is trade off between cost of pouches and initial cost of laminators? Yes?

Actually it would be good to be able to do A3.

Are they easy to use?

Ah

is there any sense in going for a more expensive model?

I take it fairtrade laminators don't exist?

Snort!

I think they all use the same pouches. Sadly they are made from a rare species of baby seal skin that has to be clubbed into submission and then skinned alive.

Sorry, guys - you're never too old to be immature - that's my motto!

MrsForgetful · 06/11/2006 23:42

i buy pouches from tesco...so far none have blistered!

its very addictive....once you start laminating ...you cannot stop!!!

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 07/11/2006 07:19

right if I go to tescos and say give me one of your laminators...will that sort me, do you think?

It seems almost too easy...

Tip for anyone thinking of laminating your baby scan pics. DON'T. It melts the ink and ruins them.

fortyplus · 07/11/2006 09:04

FillyjonkTheFireEater - I think that is as good a plan as any!

MrsForgetful · 07/11/2006 09:11

COPPERTOP SHOULD BE ALONG SOON TO CONTRIBUTE.....SHE'S A FELLOW LAMINATRRIX TOO!

fortyplus · 07/11/2006 09:48

Have just had inappropriate vision of dominant woman clad in black pvc laminating bound & gagged man's willy...
...and him begging for more!

MrsForgetful · 07/11/2006 09:54

yes...that sounds lke Coppertop....

if she's not here by lunchtime i'll post a link to this thread where i know she lurks!

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 08/11/2006 07:12

oh UGM...how oh no. Did it happen to you ?

right the plan atm is tescos unless there are any advances?

So just any old laminator and pouches will do?

there was a thread on here about them a month of so back - try searching.

curlew · 08/11/2006 09:40

The one currently in Tescos for 14.99 is supposed to be good. Mine came from The Works, and I love it. Anything that stands still gets laminated in this house. So much so that I overheard ds5 yelling at his sister in the middle of a complicated game "No - you can't go, you were elaminated in the first round"!

UCM · 08/11/2006 11:49

No thankfully, BF sis did them for her and they were utterly ruined.

What you can do with them however, is scan them. I have done this with loads including my own, if you want a photo, then you could laminate them. Use the greyscale thingy for it.

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 08/11/2006 19:44

right

I am about to send dp out into the night to fetch me a laminator from Tescos

ok

don't stop me, I'm going to send him in...

Look, the excitement is mounting and you haven't been back to tell us how well it works. It's worse than the Archers
