What crochet stitch is nice for a plain colour blanket?

I have a large and lovely amount of soft chunky cream wool. I tried a poncho but it's ridiculous.

So maybe a blanket? But being plain cream what stitch would make it slightly more exciting?

Or what else could I make?

A row of trebles and then a row of V stitch?

Shells?

Can you do post stitches (to create a cable effect)?

Waffle stitch,

Basket weave would be lovely!

Waffle stitch is lovely.

I've just done a stitch which is basically 3 FPTC, skip stitch, TC, skip stitch, 3 FPTC....
On the next row, the FPTC go around the single TC and the single TC on top of the centre FPTC of the row below.

Which may, or may not, make sense!

what about the Moogly CAL2015....do all the squares in a single colour?....I think that could look very effective.

Or I did see a blanket called Tree of Life all done in cream and that was lovely.....have a google of "tree of life crochet blanket"

Fab ideas. It's very chunky wool. Would a waffle or basket work or would it get too thick?

It would be quite thick, but not excessively ... but VERY tactile Grin

And snuggly.
