I really want to make a Cinderella dress

Has anyone seen a nice pattern anywhere that's not too Disney-fied but still recogniseable as Cinderella's dress?

(I have to convince the girls that they want Cinderella dresses when I've finished Elsa's of course! Grin )

My mum made an AMAZING Cinderella dress which was reversable. Brown and raggedy on one side, but white and lacy on the other. It did up the back with Velcro. I'm pretty sure she didn't use a pattern though because she's ridiculously talented. She probably just used an ordinary dress pattern and adapted it.

I've not got many patterns atm - I gave them all away when I stopped sewing 15 yrs ago. Wish I hadn't now though!

I might have a flick through the pattern book in Boyes tomorrow and see if there's a pattern I could adapt that'd fit both girls with a bit of tweaking here and there.

I have a nice pattern - very versatile (always reminds me of Charlotte's Web).

Simplicity 3725 - good value as they are all useful, I made C in blue as a Cinderella affair last year - worked really well. All you need is the basic shape, you can do what you want with it.

I'll look it up now, thanks lavender Smile

That one might have just made it's way into my Amazon basket Grin

Should say that it isn't very Disney - I did short puff sleeves - looked lovely in blue satin with velvet ribbon.

How old are your dd's, almost 9 here and still dressing up big style. DD is quite ill (chest infection) but managed to appear as a Tudor for the two hours she managed out of bed today Grin.

Grin Dd2 often gets dressed as Anna on a weekend for a couple of hours, then changes back into pj's for a pj day Confused

They're five and eight so plenty of dressing up years left (hopefully!)

I've gone for the 7-14 pattern, figure I can adjust as necessary for dd2.

Not too Disney Cinderella is what I'm after. Might add a couple of butterflies maybe to the bodice rather than the lacing detail.

I made it in satin lining fabric for about £8 all in! I have that one 7-14, I always trace the children's sizes so I can use them forever Grin.

Dd is 10 and still dresses up almost daily!

Fabricland have satin (Chinese silky satin on their website) for £1.45 a metre, I've got 7m of it waiting to become Elsa dresses but haven't had a proper look at it yet. It feels a better quality than the lining satin I've been using from Boyes.

£8 - £10 ish I'd be happy with making them for, I think Sleeping Beauty only cost a fiver or so for dd2 & I have loads of leftover pink satin with no purpose at the mo.

I always trace off too, dp looks at me like Hmm Confused when the greaseproof and stapler come out Grin I take over the living room entirely.
