Creative ways of making my knitted squares into a blanket.

Over the last few weeks, I've knitted a lot of squares in a variety of stitches. They are all greens, and vary from 4.5-6" squares.

I want to join them with white, but so there is a sort of border around them. My plan was to pick up stitches all around and then knit a white border, maybe mitred corners? Other options are to cast on 300(?) stitches in white and then incorporate them into that maybe with a few white stitches and then a square, repeated. I can't work out if that will work though.

Another idea is to knit in a contrasting colour around the edges of each one to make them the same size and then join them all together in the way a wooly hugs blanket is.

Does anyone have any creative ideas? I've looked on some sites and books and there hasn't been anything in particular that has grabbed me!

I think it is very much easier to crochet the squares together the way the woolly hugs are done. If you crochet round them in white until they are the same size as the next one you can then crochet them together and you have your white border in place. Crochet is not that difficult, look on YouTube for instructions.

Could you join them Babette style - a bit like this?

Thanks for your help. I did some crochet around the edges of some or them last night, and it was much easier than I expected, so I'll do that. Thanks Smile
