Help - learner knitter needs advice

My pattern says "inc 3 evenly across row", but my beginners instructions don't tell me how to do that. Please can someone help! Thanks.

Yeah, you can do it as Pruni says, or you can knit 1/4 of the row, inc 1, knit 1/4, inc 1, etc ... depending on how you feel about increases near the edges of the row.

the perfectionist answer is no, there is a special technique. you kind of knit into the front then the back.

here's a video

(tbh though, for ages I increased like this, and it didn't make a massive amount of difference, so don't fret massively if you just do it like an increase, there'll just be a tiny hole which will probably largely vanish with blocking)

god thats not a nice instruction there, btw, I would always say when in the row, cos it can make a difference. I'd go for inc at each quarter point (ie after 1/4 of the st, at 1/2 the st, at 3/4 of the stitches myself, probably, depending on what you're making.
