I am making a Fairy Doll, pattern by Stephanie Law. It's been driving me up the potty wall, with having to cast on 6 sts on 3 dp pins, but I have actually constructed something.

The wings are crocheted and here is where I come unstuck
These are the instructions:
1: ch 3, sl st in first sc to form circle
row 2: ch 2, (dc)x5 into center (5)
row 3: ch 2, dc in first stitch. (dc)x2 into each stitch to end of row.
(10)

Now I can do all that, but I come out with a perfect little circle, whereas they have something like a wing shape.

The link is here and there are pictures right at the end. I have a feeling I may be falling foul of American terms, so would be grateful if someone familiar with both American and English terms could have a look for me.
Thank you

March is coming up, which is International Crochet Month on Ravelpry - there is a party which is great fun. I usually join in the Scavenger Hunt and the MCAL.

Haven't seen that, probably because I am MUCH more of a knitter than crocheter

There is a soupdragon on Ravelry, but she is more of a knitter than crocheter. Name begins with C and she lives in E?

Nope - you lost me at knitter! :o

My maternal grandmother tried to teach me when I was about 8. It did not go well. 35 years later and I still shudder when I hear the work "knitting" as I can feel that rough yarn going across my fingers and it sets my teeth on edge. It's very odd!

Sounds like my kind of place. Thanks, will have a look.
