Running out of yarn!

Don't know exactly how I expect the internet to help. About 18 months ago (I'm a slow knitter Wink) I bought handspun hand-dyed lambswool from a lovely shop in Skye, to knit a winter sweater for DH. From memory it was 700 grams and according to the pattern was enough for the size I was knitting. I've now done the body and nearly finished one sleeve, but only have one 100g skein left. I've weighed the other sleeve and so far it's nearly 130g. :( I have a sleeve plus the ribbing around the collar still to do.

I don't know what to do. I will try to contact the place I got it, maybe send them a swatch to see if they can closely match it. The only other option I can think of is some kind of stripe on the sleeve, which means ripping out a whole sleeve. The main sweater has a fairisle snowflake on the body and have some of that left.

Any other genius ideas? It's taken ages and is lovely but completely pointless if I can't finish it!

It's this pattern

100g should be plenty I reckon. I'd crack on for now.

The alternative is to make it short sleeved, which will mean ripping back some of what you've done, but better than not being able to wear the jumper at all!

The ribbing around the collar you can definitely do in a contrast colour so don't worry about that.

But if the existing sleeve weighs more than 100g, doesn't that mean I will definitely run out? :(

Short sleeve definitely would be odd!

Does it have ribbing at the end of the sleeve?

You could rip that back, then weigh what's left of the sleeve. If it's less than the yarn you have (i.e. your ribbing weighed more than 15 grams) then do your ribbing at the end of both sleeves plus round the collar in the contrast colour.

If you still don't have enough, you'll have to rip back more of the sleeve and put in stripes.

How much do you have of the contrast colour - do you think you will have enough of both added together, and it's just a question of deciding how to arrange it.

Yes it has ribbing, but the sleeves are knitted from the cuff up, so I'd have to rip the whole thing out. Also the contrast colour is quite light and while it looks good for the snowflake, I'm just not sure about doing the ribbing in it. I think I might just have enough of both, but I can get more of the contrast and the colour match wouldn't be so important as they wouldn't be right beside each other.

Oh I don't know :(. I think it's going to have to be stripes. But not sure how/where/how many. I will wait till OH is home and get him to try it on and see.

So annoying, I definitely bought what the pattern advised. I couldn't get more as it came in a bundle, otherwise I'd probably have bought a spare skein.
