The bastard cat has eaten a few holes in DD's new jumper and she is not happy!

A town nearby has repair workshops, they will deal with clothing right through to electronics. Do you have a local one?
Otherwise, head to your nearest wool shop and I am sure that they can point you in the right direction.

Lambstales, are you able to recommend or give me contact details please? I am not aware of any local wool shops but I work in London - do you think there would be anywhere there who could help, although I'm guessing it might be more expensive.

Sorry but my IT skills are not up to it, but it is a cream jumper with a few holes in it, quite delicate thread.

If it is a fine knit (shop bought) jumper with quite a few holes it will be difficult to mend invisibly. And expensive if you are not doing it yourself. It might be easier to see if you can get her another one the same in the sales.

La Raclette, the one that I was thinking of was the Brighton Repair Cafe. I think that several towns are using this model.
There have been several repair/reuse initiatives rather than just recycle.
Do you work N,S,E or W of London?

Not work..live

Tom of Holland is interesting....

LaRaclette · 10/01/2015 11:57

Thanks for the replies. I have tried to get her another one but it is completely sold out. I don't mind if it's quite expensive as she loved it so much, and I am not expecting a perfect job, just something better than I could do as I am not gifted in that department.

Lamb, I work in the city. What is Tom of Holland?

I think Tom of Holland is a knitter who makes repairs quite a feature if they cannot be done invisibly.

There used to be an invisible mender shop on Marylebone High St.

There still is treadsoftly they are brilliant:

Not cheap mind, but our local dry cleaners made a right old mess of mending a coat, and BIM sorted it out, and they mended a much-loved cardigan for me. I believe they work by post.

Thank you so much for your helpful suggestions - my DD will be delighted!
