Very simple texture in knitting

I'm knitting one row knit, one row purl to make a pencil case (it was going to be a purse but it's turned out longer than I thought Grin). The smooth side is the outside so I thought it would be nice to put a couple of lines of texture in there

This looks simple enough hopefully but if you knit two together do you not end up with a triangle by the time you've finished? Confused

And how do you do yarn over?

Ah, wait a minute! Is yarn over making another stitch on the needle so you keep the same number of stitches?? How do you do that?

Can you tell I'm not very good experienced at knitting? Blush

I've just finished my two coloured one. It is a bit of a scunner sewing in all those peskies - think I'll try your method next time Purple or my version of it - we'll see what happens Wink

I'll also leave a longer bit for making the hanging loop - I crocheted one but it's not very big.

I'm loving my wee socks though Grin. Many thanks for everyone's help Thanks

Oh my, peskies galore. Did it in 4 ply on 3mm needles and did the loop the way she said. She also said to just tie and knot and trim the peskies, no need to sew them in, but I still did.

That's so sweet, Dutch - good grief, you don't hang about Grin

I started one on bigger needles last night then remembered about the double ended business - doh!

Another four to go!

Oh Hexie, I've just seen your pencil case on my FB page. It looks amazing, I can't believe it is a first project. Well done.

Oo, look at them with their letters! You're so clever Smile. Did you draw out a pattern for that or can you do it with your eyes shut in your head?

I'm on the Fair isle one now and seem to have come to a halt in the enthusiasm stakes Blush

No, on the Ravelry page there was a page with all the letters and you would not believe what a lot of trouble I had knowing how to have the pattern in relation to the sock. I had to get a friend to elp and she sorted it within seconds. There are things an Oma can do and things she cannot. Once my friend had sorted it I could do the other two without problem.

Ah Smile - what would we do without our chums in the know Wink

I know.

I have seen the mini stockings in real life and can confirm that they are indeed lovely and very cute. I also had a master class in fair isle knitting from Oma - absolutely brilliant. Every day is a school day on MN Grin

You will just have to remind me to give you some wool when I see you next.
