My darling, wonderful grandmother died last week. Needless to say, DM is finding it really hard.

DSis and I have decided to find a lovely photo of my nan as a child or young woman and have it sketched or painted for DM for Christmas. But I don't know where to start!

We don't earn very much between us but are ok to spend around £200-£300 on it.

Anyone got any tips on how we go about this? Is it a silly idea in that we could never afford it or have left it too late before Christmas?

Facebook might be a good place to start. Look in the search box under "Portraits from photos"

That's really thoughtful. I can't help with the picture I'm afraid but just throwing another idea out there (sorry if it's just the painting you are set on)

Etsy have some lovely necklaces. You send the seller an example of handwriting and they make the necklace to replicate the handwriting. Sorry I'm not explaining this very well. Can't link either as I'm on the app but if you google necklace from handwriting there should be a load on Etsy to show you what I mean.

Bathilda, I'm an artist and would love to help if I can. I've sent you a PM.

Look up www.portraitguild.com . Find one whose style you like and negotiate.
