Knitting groups

I've just discovered that there is a weekly knitting group held at my local library. I'm a fairly experienced knitter, although a bit lacking in confidence. I'm trying to decide if I should try to join or not. Does anyone on here belong to a knitting group? What do they actually do? Knit obviously, but how are these things organised? I'd be grateful for any info which might help me decide if I might enjoy going to one. Thanks.

I go to one where we just take whatever we are working on to knit, crochet and sometimes sew. I tend to take something I don't need to concentrate on too closely. We don't meet in a library so its really informal with lots of chatting and coffee drinking!! We have an "official" two hour time slot but are generally there all afternoon with people coming and going when they feel like it. Sometimes a group project will be suggested - like the Innocent smoothie hats - but there is no compulsion to join in.

But not all groups are the same. Some may be aimed at newbies so you might find yourself helping people to learn; others concentrate on producing charity knits. They might be more formal with an expectation to arrive and leave at particular times
But try it. You have nothing to lose! If you don't like it, its been a coue of hours but it could be the start if new friendships.

Scuse the typos!!

And just to add we are all ages and from all walks of life from young singles, new mums right up to a great-grandmother. Sahms, professionals, the retired etc There are even a couple of men!

Your group sounds the sort of thing I might like! The times of this one struck me as being a bit strange, 11.30am to 1.30pm. You're right of course, there's nothing to lose except a couple of hours. Thanks for the encouragement. :)

Go! My knitting group are fab. Bonkers but fab LOL

TBH the knitting is our link to each other and we do knit, but mostly we chat, support and put the world to rights. They are all younger than me. We do 11-1 in starbucks.

knitting is the new binge drinking among the youth of today, according to a woman's hour thing i heard last week
