Share your crafting fails here! Grin

I've just been undoing some crochet rounss to redo them so that the squares will lie flat(ter) when made up into a blanket.

Despite unravelling several hours' work, I see it as a step in the right direction and I'm getting a buzz from working out a solution to the problem.

What crafty work in progress have you learned something from, did you manage a redo (evwn from acratch) or are you still scratching your head over a solution?

What pattern did you use for those squares? The curled up ones look like they belong on a coral reef :)

Hehe, they are 'forget-me-not' from the book Granny Square Flowers by Margaret Hubert. I've made a few of the different flower blocks (for a different blanket) most of which turned out square and look lovely. This one is tricky as it is turning a pentagon into a square and it doesn't quite go.

I've just made the squares a bit bigger and given them an extra round of treble stitch to increase wriggleability. I think I'll just get away with it. I did miss out a few chain stitches on the last round of the pentegons too which didn't help, but I'm not undoing all of those too!

Yes, I've tried turning stars into squares via pentagons and it's not easy :)

just about everything is a learning experience for me, I rarely make the same thing twice Grin I've lost count of the times I've frogged rows/squares because they were wonky, patterns are a guideline though, right?

love your colour choices Smile

I had to look up 'frogging'! Grin something else I've learned!

So now I've got onto the main job of the day which is taking up the hem on a poorly made (but expensive) prom dress. I really want to do a good job but the hems I'm measuring against are wiggly and croocked. The fabric stretches in all the wrong directions, slips all over the place and this i just the first of 3 layers.

I'm learning to buy future prom dresses in plenty of time to get alterations done professionally!

That is beautiful! I want to make one but have to finish current projects first.

I've heard certain rows, I think the catherine wheel and star st are better worked with a bigger hook on the as you go blanket Smile

I recently cut ds2's joggers up to make them into shorts, trying to get the hem straight wasn't as easy as it should have been must have wonky eyes Grin

I LOVE that blanket. I wish I could crochet! :(
