Elderflowers in cans!

I am making 'tin can' table decorations for a wedding. My bloom of choice is elderflowers, they are abundant, cheap and match the colour scheme and summer feel of the day.

Because of the time constraints, I need to be able to make them on the Wednesday for a Saturday wedding.

However, I am not sure if they will stay fresh long enough between Weds and Saturday.

Can anyone who knows about these things give me any advice e.g should I use Oasis or similar in the cans, or would water suffice? Any other tips for ensuring the flowers last?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Oh dear! Should this have gone in 'Weddings'?

Do a trial can to find out how long they stay fresh?

I'm fairly sure bits will drop everywhere.

Sorry, can't you really cut the flowers Sat am?

I like your idea btw. Very pretty.

Elderflowers are no good as cut flowers for more than a few hours I'm afraid..... they shed all the little flower bits and go brown and droopy very quickly... they also have a bit of an unfortunate "cat pee" scent when cut for a while....

I would do a trial as a previous poster suggests, just to make sure they are what you want.....

yy to craftycrafter

I've just picked elderflowers this morning (for cordial not decorations) and they drooped really quickly
