I have been painting furniture with Annie Sloane paint with fab results and fancy adding découpage to other old bits I have.
I have seen modge podge... is this the correct stuff if so how do I use it?
Many thanks.

Mod Podge is the US version of what we'd call PVA glue. It's marketed as fancy but really just does the same as PVA glue!

Use PVA and you'll be fine.

Thanks MrsWinnibago. Do you go over it all with PVA as well and do you need to water it down at all?

My Dad always watered it down a bit....I don't think he put it all over...just where he wanted the decoupage to stick...and then he'd do some clever thing with matte varnish...something to do with letting it dry, sanding it lightly and then varnishing it again....

personally I would use the decopatch glue. I used it on a tray and it is very hardwearing whereas I used pva glue on a chair which was ruined after my husband dropped some water on it. Decopatch glue is more expensive but then decoupage takes a lot of time and patience so for me the investment is worthwile.

I'd use PVA and then varnish it for protection.

Decopatch glue appears to be PVA and water in a roughly 50:50 mix
