Right now the bastard is winning...

I have a Brother Ls14. We have been locked in battle for days now.
It WILL thread the bobbin and upper thread

WON"T

Pick up the lower thread from the bobbin after I've threaded the needle,so the top and bottom threads do not tie together- does that make sense?

I allows me to stitch a few lines then gives a sly grin and dethreads itself arrrrggghhhh! I struggle to thread the needle at all and the bastard thing coming undone every 2 mins is driving me insane.

I've checked the tension (mine is very high, indeed),used a better quality thread and gone through the instructions very carefully.

I need help. Think the blasted thing has an iron will.

Take a step back and reread the instruction manual.

I know you're right but sewing machines are much trickier than I imagined. I'm saving up pennies to go to a class so that I can learn how to use it.

Might mutter swear words at it while I read the manual. Smile

Thank you!

Have you tried giving it a good clean? The instructions should tell you how to clean the bobbin casing, give the tension discs a clean etc. you'll probably need to remove the needle plate.

With my brother I take the needle plate off, clean the bobbin casing then put it back together again. With mine It's usually caused by lint or loose threads catching.

Once cleaned also change the needle as even a little microscopic fault can cause problems with mine as she's a temperamental bugger!

That usually works for me. If not then it might need a service. Have you had it long?

Also if you use plastic bobbins try a new bobbin. The plastic bobbins for my brother seem to wear out and go very slightly out of shape and all the stitches go loose and nest up but a new one sorts it.

I can remember it going wrong at a class and the tutor telling me not to be so daft - it couldn't possibly be that - but a new bobbin fixed the problem instantly!

Thank you {flowers]

It turned out that there was a problem between the machine interface. I was too stupid to follow the instructions in the manual

It works fine, even if it is the work of satan.
