DC stripe blanket help needed.

I'm starting a simple DC stripe blanket but am not sure about the start/end of the rows and whether to do 2x DC into the first/last stitch. Is it the same as the Attic24 granny stripe? Can anyone help.

It's not a granny stripe, just DC straight through. I've started it and it doesn't look too bad starting and ending with a single DC in the first/last stitch.

I think it will work fine as long as you element and chain 3 at the end of each row

Is it UK dc? If so, I would do 1 chain to turn and do 1 dc into 1st stitch and all stitches to end.

Yes it's UK DC. I've been doing chain 3 to turn and then DC into first and each of the following stitches. I'm 8 rows in and it looks like the rows are getting wider Confused. I'm almost ready to give up and just do a granny stripe.

I think you're going to need to count each stitch for a few rows to decide what you need to do to get the right number. Having said that, often my first few rows do seem to get wider but then stop. I'm not sure why but I guess it's because the starting chain doesn't stretch as much as the subsequent rows.

Are you sure you are doing UK DC? 3 chains to turn would look peculiar...

GlaikitFizzog · 12/05/2014 07:34

I ch2 for TC and Ch1 for DC. Most patterns say Ch3 for TC but I am a loose hooker!

For Rows of DC I would definitely only Ch1 at each turn

OwlCapone · 12/05/2014 08:08

It must be US DC. ie UK TC

PurpleFrog · 12/05/2014 12:23

If it is UK Treble Crochet you should chain 3, miss 1st stitch and do 1 stitch in each stitch to end of row, finishing with a stitch in the 3rd stitch of the turning chain from the row below.

um, yes Blush I am doing UK TC and not UK DC Blush! I have also worked out where I am going wrong - I am also doing the Attic 34 neat ripple on another project and in that one the first TC is into the same stitch as the starting chain. Have ripped out what I had done and started again from the first row doing what PurpleFrog suggests and it's all working out OK now. Thanks for your help.
