Is embossing easy? Thought I may sign myself for an embossing class but then thought if its really hard to do I cant be bothered!!! Thought if its hard its bound to look crap if I try it!!

So - is it easy? Is it quick to do? Is it worth learning to do?

Any advice/comments welcome.

dead easy really

embossing with stamps and powder: Stamp image, sprinkle with powder, shake off excess and heat with heat tool.

embossing designs with a tool, multi purpose, different effects on different papers or foils and all you really need to do it is an old roller ball pen that has run out to use as your tool! Of course then you get addicted and start buying light boxex and stencils and parchment papers.......

Go do it its great!

ooo sounds complicated!

lol, more addictive. I may own slightly more boxes of pretty paper and beads and stuff than strictly necessary for one person!

I've just ordered some bits to give embossing a try. One vital thing I still need to get is some embossing powder. I can't decide which one/colour to get, any advice?

Indith · 30/08/2006 13:02

Oh many many colours for all sorts of things! Or the alternative is to get coloured ink pads (though still for embossing of course) and then just get clear powder so it shows through. Or just get a black powder to give a nice clean defined line and colour in your designs.
Then again with Christmas card making season coming up (can't believe I'm saying that in August but so true) Greens and golds are a safe bet to be used!

Have fun!

I have ordered a silver pearl powder. I have ordered some inks aswell so looks like I should buy some clear powder to go with it! DH will be delighted when he finds out

once you start you are doomed. I tend to stick more to pretty papers and cards at the moment, student loans don't cover stamps and powders apparantly. One day I shall have a proper job and buy many many things!

I have the problem of lack of space. Still, once one of the kids leave home I can use their room (my eldest is 7)

well I am the kid moving out here! Finally moving the rest of my stuff from my parents place in a couple of weeks since its been mostly languishing in wardrobes for a few years. Mum already has the whole loft conversion and one of the bedrooms for her craft needs and she's looking at the empty spance with glee!

The general advice is that you get the celar embossing ink and then have coloured powder

Pixiefish · 31/08/2006 08:43

clear I meant not celar
