Simple, 2 needle, baby hat pattern?

Any ideas? So many on ravelry are in the round and I can't do that.

If you can get a copy of the mag 'Knitting & Crochet' it has patterns for some simple hats done on 2 needles. It's pricey at £8.99 but it comes with enough wool to make all three hats (as well as needles and darning needle).
I'm a very novice knitter but have so far made the blue striped hat and the berry hat and they came out quite well.

You can tailor the search on ravelry. Choose "worked flat" and "seamed" to avoid anything knitted in the round.

the Sublime knitting pattern books are all seamed with some lovely things for babies.

This looks like a nice simple pattern, knitted flat.

This garter stitch baby hat is my favourite pattern for new borns.

I use DK yarn (or baby Cashmerino if I'm feeling flush) and 4mm needles.

For a beginner (my seven year old just did one!) a nice baby hat pattern is a simple rectangle with ribbing for a few rows at the cast on and cast off edges. Fold it in half longways and sew up the side edges. It makes a hat with two pointy corners which can be embellished with Pom poms for a seriously cute look.

I have done 4 rows!

Giraffes, that's a brilliant idea. My 6yo has just this evening mastered garter stitch and wants to knit something for her teacher who will be off on maternity leave at half term! I'm sure she could do one of those :)

I've started with Woolybacks garter stitch.

In 4 years time I may move on to a lacey number.

Why am I so slow?

Ribbing is slow anyway, especially if you do English knitting with the yarn in your right hand, rather than Continental with the yarn in your left hand.

I can't get the hang of continental, but it's much much speedier.

But I suppose it's all practice practice practice...
