Can anyone help with French couture terms please?

An ex-student of mine contacted me a while ago with a query about some terms she needed to clarify for an exhibition in America. I did my best but not being much of a sewer in English let alone French I am not happy. If you are familiar with French couture terms please can you help?

Thanks ever so much. This is the info I was given:

"cheval" referring to a sleeve cut;
"calage" when draping fabric over another basic form to work out a molded pattern piece.

If you can shed any light on these it would be brilliant, thanks again.

Ok if I've got it right, a sleeve cut à chevel, means it has been cut on the bias.

Calage refers to the fitting of the material to the form.

Mignonette soweee! Thanks ever so much I really wish I had thought of this forum earlier, the closest I got was a sleeve encased in bias binding, I didn't get the cut on the bias bit. Very grateful. Mwah!!
