A question regarding cross stitching.

Good morning,

I have cross stitched an animal on aida fabric which will be used as a pillow case. The fabric is grass green. Now I do not know if I should leave it like that or take green yarn and cross stitch the main side of the pillow. If I leave just like that will my pillowcase look incomplete?
Thank you.

Do you mean the stitched aida fabric is just going to be a strip down one side of the pillowcase?

here you cannot see the aida fabric whereas in the link below it is visible.

Ah, do you mean to fill in the blank bits of the aida surrounding your animal picture, because your pillow will look like one on your top link?

If that's the case then yes I would Smile

Thank you Hexiegone. That is exactly what I wanted to find out. The fabric is very nice but I was not just sure how cross stitched pillows are finished. Now I need to buy yarn for the background.

I would stitch the whole of one side of the pillow.

Thank you Littlefish. Will browse online shops for tapest yarn.

You could always half stitch the background. It would help hide the aida but still let the animal stand out

Yeah, blank aids is not really very nice is it? Can anyone suggest another sort of fabric which has a weave you can cross stitch onto but is attractive in its own right?

Ps, pedantic, but they are called cushions in the uk. A pillow is what you rest your head on when you sleep.

Blank aida, not blank aids

Linen?
