Crochet slippers help

I am -attempting to - making the pom pom slippers in edition 12 of Simply Crochet.

The sole looks all weird. I have FROGged it three times now and it looks no better each time. I have counted stitches carefully. I don't know what else to do bar FROG it again...

Has anyone else done them? Any hints and tips? Any slipper patterns that use Drops Karisma that I could do instead??

They were supposed to be a presnt for my mum as she travels a lot and can't take more than a weenie case. She loves her slippers and can't take them so I thought some crochet ones would be right up her street!

Help me oh wise ones!

Have you looked on ravelry? There are loads of free patterns on there, plus you can see how other peoples projects have turned out and what modifications they used. V helpful. Perhaps someone else has crocheted that pattern already on there.

I knit some felted slippers called duffers (pattern on ravelry) I love them and as you felt them in the washing machine you can shrink them to size and to your exact foot shape.

Thanks Buttered..... I'm fudging it now as I ripped it out AGAIN this afternoon.

My mother will just have to love them in all their wonky glory!

I will look on Ravelry for the next lot I think!

I've just seen some ace rainbow ones that look WAAAAAAY simpler!

I like the idea of the duffers too!

These types of slipper often look wonky until you get them on your feet - then they kind of mould to the shape of the foot. Add some extra rows to the tops to even out any areas where it isn't sitting quite right.

I have made some similar to these before and find a few DC rows with regular decreases pulls the whole top together and keeps it on the foot more securely.

Thank you! I'm also thinking of adding some felt soles to hide the wonkiness!!

I've doen a bit more and they look less shit this time round than last but I shan't do them again. I shall take this as a lesson learned - I can do granny squares, snow flakes and ripple if I concentrate but slippers are just not my thing!
