My Stylecraft Special DK arrived on Friday and I'm hooking my way through a huge granny stripe blanket. It's looking fabulous, I'm very excited :)

Actually Daisy that's a really good point - I've been trying to get knitting as a way of ensuring that I do something but it's not exactly urgent Blush It's strange cos once I've got everything set up/beads out etc I can't put it down and I'm as happy as a pig in muck.

Janye I'd LOVE to be able to do that! I have loads "spare" commuting time but I can't even knit properly on the underground let alone bead Sad What's your current project? I'd love to get some ideas!

I might start taking a proper lunch break at work and do something crafty at my desk.....

Granny striping away here. Did you get the Stylecraft poppy? It's amazing for the price and so soft when worked up.

I'm freezing so it's a good incentive to keep going - the sooner it's big enough to cover my knees, the better!

Oh four I'm currently crocheting a beanie hat for our Christmas shoe box. It is really easy and satisfying because it is quite quick. Fits nicely in my handbag too with just a ball of wool and a crochet hook!

I'm impressed at you beading on the train! I finished a shawl for a friend's wedding during train trips but as it grew it needed its own seat. I glowered at anyone looking like they wanted to sit there!

socks are my train knitting. they fit neatly into a bag. though people think they are hilarious when they come up to you and tell you you can buy socks in the shops...

I have been making Hama bead snowflakes with DD for her Pre school Christmas fair, not much talent involved but they are really pretty.

A quilt, an origami box and some birthday invitations. And a mess.

I would happily craft all day but work and housework get in the way Grin .

I am currently making a toddler jumper - this is nearly finished but I have the dreaded sewing up to do. Also I am making a pair of bootees of which one is made (not sewn up obviously) and the other has about 3 rows of rib done. It is my best friend's birthday in a couple of weeks so I want to knit her something small like a tea cosy so I may start that tonight or tomorrow. The pattern has matching egg cosies but I am wondering if these would actually be useful or not?

This week I've finished my stint of making over 100 felt charity poppies for sale in local shops, libraries and online, phew, glad no more can be made. Maybe some personalised Christmas goodies next, including my own kids stockings.

I have made my first seat pad cover using this one as a template

www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Gingham-Checked/dp/B004P0BCFS

It looks lovely but I reused a cushion I didn't want for the inner.

It's not comfy to sit on SadSadSad

I am now making crochet candy canes for the Winstons Wish sale, having come up with my own pattern for them.

I am working on a crochet blanket for a friend who is expecting a baby. It (the blanket, not the baby) is teal, turquoise and cream. The squares are about 6" square, and I think I am going to make the blanket 5x6 squares (about 24"x30") - though dh is suggesting 5x5 (30"x30") - what do people think? If it makes a difference, if I do the larger blanket, I probably won't have enough cream to hook it together and do the edging, as I had planned, but would have enough teal and turquoise left to edge it.

Ingles - can I ask what pattern you use for your crochet snowflakes? I can follow a crochet pattern, as long as it is not too complex, and I would love to learn to crochet snowflakes - I have this plan to stiffen them, put ribbon on, and attach them to blue cards, so they are both a christmas card and a decoration that you can detach and put on your tree - so a mini gift. I have never crocheted with thread, though - only yarn.

Good grief PoulterGoose I started my ripple blanket last weekend, it's only got 171 stitches and I'm only on the 4th colour! You are on the 5th and you started yesterday? I am so impressed!

I'm using the Attic 24 pattern too, it is so simple but it looks so lovely. Just won't be finished before next winter at this rate!

Making a mummy doctor doll for dd, knitted. it's from an Alan dart pattern in an old magazine. Have been doing it for ages - I'm not fond of sewing up, and was particularly nervous about tackling the head so I kept putting it off, but I've got past the worst of it now and she already loves it. Will try to finish in next week. I'm thinking of doing another for her cousin but it won't be ready for Xmas at my speed, maybe end of January at best.
