Crochet pattern question - how to work out the repeats

SoupDragon · 28/10/2013 15:42

I want to make this but I want it wider, but not as much as double the width. How do I work out how many chains I need to add??

Is it multiples of 8 as that's how many stitches between the long stitches in Row 3?

I'm ignoring the act that I've never used a chart before :o

it's multiples of 8 as it's the repeat of the M.1B that you want to increase. The pattern currently has that repeating over 56sts so that's M.1B repeated 7 times. I think Grin

So, there is a mistake in their starting chain when it says 74 incl 1 turning chain as 73 isn't a multiple of 8...

aaagh!

Ah, A is 8, B is 8 and C is 9 stitches long.

yep, A and C are only done once on each row while B is repeated, I much prefer written instructions Grin

Yes, me too. I didn't know it was only a chart when I decided I liked the pattern :)

It seems that once you get into the pattern if the repeat, it'd be easy enough. The repeats are 8ch, so if you want it twice as long as it is ch 10 (9+1 to turn) + 112 (14x8 repeats) + 8 = 130
Does that make sense?

SoupDragon · 28/10/2013 22:10

No idea :o probably. These things tend to make sense as you try it I find.

I need to give it a go in something like Stylecraft before risking my silk.
