Sorry just need to tell someone.

I have had a couple of moans from people about late deliveries and one person said my card looked cheap and now I feel like giving the whole thing up.

I would answer moans with a reaon so it is recording on ebay why they weere late so as to stop future probs. Email teh person ask them why it looked cheap ,try to be positive

Riddo · 05/07/2006 09:04

I was too worried that I'd be rude. Email is a strange form of communication because it can be misinterpreted. You are right I should ask why it looked cheap. I suppose I'm worried about what she'll say.

I did email all the people who's cards were late and explained that I'd been ill but some people moaned anyway. I've changed my listings now so that the delivery time is longer.

Another reason why I never ebay anymore.

People are gits.

Dingle · 05/07/2006 09:29

Don't do ebay, so can't be much help I am afraid. Don't let this put you off, learn by it, pick yourself up and start again!

If delivery is genuinely late, because of illness, - personally I would have included a little note along with the order explaining this and perhaps a token gesture of a free card, usually something quite general which would always have a use. That way you have explained yourself hopefully, before the negative feedback came about.

As for the card looking cheap, I take it they saw the design on purchasing it, so what are they unhappy with? Is it the workmanship, the products?
Definately get back to them and apologise that they are unhappy with the card and ask for exact detials of what they don't like in the form of constructive criticism. Don't let it become personal.

Hugs.

Whizzz · 05/07/2006 09:34

I'd weigh up how many happy customers you've had - I'm sure there must be more happy than moaners. Don't let it put you off

fairyfly · 05/07/2006 09:39

Just say the card was cheap as you like to reflect the buyers personality.

( dingle could you email or msn me on bhuna at msn dot com, cheers)

oliveoil · 05/07/2006 09:40

lol

Riddo · 05/07/2006 10:00

Very good ff

It was cheap (only £1.20) quite a bargin for a hand made card I think.

I have had a lot of positive comments - I'm having a bad day and dwelling on the negative. I did include a free card for the person who moaned about late delivery but I didn't hear anything back.

I need to develop a thicker skin I suppose and as you say try not to take it personally. It's made me realise how imporant it is to be positive though. I always try to find something positive to say when I buy on ebay even if its a comment on the packaging!

There is no pleasing some people. Why don't you offer recorded delivery for those who want a time scale.
Do you have photos of the cards you make. If so then they knew what they would look like.

Answer the negative feed back, with I've sent you another card free of charge.

poppiesinaline · 05/07/2006 11:23

Riddo. Selling creative things that you have put so much effort into is hard because it does knock your confidence if you dont get the feedback you want. Dont give up. Focus on all the good comments you have had. Wasnt it you that did well at a recent school fair? People would not have bought them if they looked cheap. Agree with the others, I would ask why they thought the card looked cheap and learn and move on. Practice makes perfect after all!

Someone said to me the other day "Your cards are just getting better and better" then I found myself thinking "Why, did they think they were crap before?"

Riddo · 05/07/2006 14:10

Have had another positive comment today so I'm feeling better. Yes Poppies is was me who did well at the school fair. I'm having one of those days when everything feels terrible but no doubt it will be better in the morning.

If anyone has tips on how to make the photos better I'd love to hear them.

I've just taken a few in the garden in the sunshine - not had chance yet to download to inspect properly though - but at first glance, they look OK. Colours seem better & brighter

charliecat · 05/07/2006 14:16

Well Riddo, I brought a couple of cards from you from ebay and they were bloody lovely.
And they were cheap to buy, but they WER NOT cheap to look at..and everyone whos seen them said how nice they were. Check the feedback that they have left for other sellers, bet they are of the never satisfied sort.
Keep it up..
I also feel sick looking at my ebay when ive been late posting stuff BTW...thought it was just me...

Riddo · 05/07/2006 14:22

The person who left the "cheap" comment has hidden feedback which did make me wonder if they are just impossible to please.

Thanks Charliecat

See Riddo..... more positive feedback

I think you are very brave selling on ebay.. I dont think I could be brave enough to do it so good for you I say. Ignore that grumpy person, she obviously has no idea what she is talking about.

mousiemousie · 05/07/2006 18:54

How many people loved your cards, Riddo? Loads, I bet

Dingle · 05/07/2006 19:04

Just a quick check in Riddo, good to see you are more positive hunny!! What more can you do....give blood!!!!

What do you feel is wrong with your pics, do you have a link?

Like Whizzz, I have recently taken a few of mine in the garden. The idea came from a challenge on LCC last month, we had a summer pic challenge going on and I really got into the mood...so much the few cards I managed to make - I snapped them in the garden. Take a look link{http://www.picturetrail.com/dingledel\here in Dinglescards and if I can help at all give me a shout or email me on Dinglescard at yahoo.co.uk

Whatever you do, don't give up!!!

Dingle · 05/07/2006 19:06

ooopppsss....try this

Skribble · 05/07/2006 19:12

I suppose people might have been p*ssed off if the card was too late for the occasion they bought it for, good idea to make it clear what your delivery time is now. Regards to the cheap comment as long as your pictures clearly show what the card looks like then it is their choice to buy agree £1.20 is cheap so seems like unresonable expectations.

Agree with others to look at the positives from theis and continue to progress and improve not only the cards but your service too.

fattiemumma · 05/07/2006 19:17

you should put a response to their feedback saying that had they got in touch prior to kleaving neg Fb you coudl have resolved any issue's.

Blu · 05/07/2006 19:20

Blimey - an ordinary printed card from a shop costs £1-95 or more!

Riddo · 06/07/2006 12:51

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling much better today. Dingle, your cards are beautiful and the photography is great. I shall copy you and photograph mine outside as they look so much better. my cards are here

I've taken a few off until I've re-thought them

OP posts:
heavenis · 06/07/2006 13:03

Just looked at your cards, they look nice.

The one who said they looked cheap has only got a feedback of 98.1% so I wouldn't worry too much I wouldn't buy off them with that feed back score.

bettythebuilder · 06/07/2006 13:44

Re photos of cards, I recently spent many (!)hours in the garden taking photos of Baby Wheels, and I had the best results outside on a bright day.
I got a large box, opened one end and covered it with material (in my case, a baby blanket). This made like a mini studio. I then propped the card up using a little box behind it, and I'm pretty pleased with the results here

bettythebuilder · 06/07/2006 13:48

Oh, and I used a mini tripod to keep the camera steady. You can get them from photo shops or M&S for about a fiver.
