Hello, does anyone have a pattern for a knitted hooded cowl for a 6 yo girl. Very important that it is knitted on two flat needles. Ravelry hasn't produced anything suitable. Many thanks.

could you adapt this one? love this one and Pinterest is always worth a look...
looks quite easy

How about this one? It isn't a free pattern though - $5.50 Canadian dollars (I have no idea what this is in sterling)

I searched using "snood" on Ravelry

I have a pattern for a knitted flat snood that I can send you if you want.

Thank you both; those are the exact snoods I want to knit, but I'm not able to follow the instructions because none of them are on two flat needles Sad

The one I linked to says "worked flat" which I take to mean knitted on two needles. "Seamless" or "in the round" usually means (to me) that it is worked on a circular needle.

The fact that it has button holes would also indicate that it is on two needles.

Wolly I have actually bought the pattern and it calls for size 19 circular needle (it works 5 strands of yarn together!!) and then goes on about the Kitchener Stitch. It's all really confusing to be honest because it doesn't do anything in the round that I can tell, but the whole kitchener stitch throws me. Directions go like this:

Hood: Hold 5 strands as one strand, knit flat
CO 28st
R1: purl
R2: Knit
R3: purl
R 4-29: repeat 2 and 3 thirteen more times
Break yarn leaving 40" tail and use it to kitchener stitch the top of the hood together.

The ears bit is clear but that's about it!! Confused

Yikes - that's a bloody big needle Grin

Kitcheners stitch is also known as grafting. There are some YouTube videos to show how to do it. I assume it is to give a seamless finish but in the past I have just cast off and sewn the two sides together (different garment though).
