Can I make a quilt from these?

My DS is 2.5 and have been clearing out his clothes today. He had some lovely things and some I just don't want to part with.

I wont be having anymore DC and was wondering if I can make a quilt out of the clothes. Most are polyester/cotton mix but seem a bit stretchy. Has anyone made a quilt out of material like this before?

Thank you

I make quilts out of all sorts of random oddments so answer is yes. Smile
My dh's old boxers ended up in a christening quilt I made. The face of the child's grandmother when I told her was a picture.

Funny I had the same idea !

Moondog could you elaborate please? I am hopeless at sewing etc but really want to have a go Smile

I went to a class initially which taught me how easy it is to do and then I was off. I haven't sewn in a while but have just assembled pieces to do my next quilt (I've done three king size and about five children's ones).

Find a good craft shop where you can get them to talk stuff over with you and help. My teacher recommended one to me as it was where she goers.

If you want to quilt stretchy fabric the best idea is to get some lightweight fusible interfacing which stabilises it and makes it much easier to work with.

Doing this kind of quilt is very popular, especially in America, so if you google you'll probably find some more detailed tutorials and loads of pics for inspiration on pinterest.

[[Light Weight Iron-On Budget Interfacing White - per 4 metres

I made a memory quilt last year out of my dad's, dh's and ds' old shirts, my mam's old pjs, baby clothes, embroidered stuff from the 50's that my mam had done etc etc.

The stretchiest stuff I used to do appliqued hearts; I also cut out motifs that had been on baby and toddlers clothes etc.
Turned out beautiful and although it's not perfect it gives me pleasure to look at it and know where every scrap of maerial has come from

That's lovely Gatekeeper, that's the kind of thing I'd like to do :)

Your link didn't work ZombiesAte but if you mean this, then yes, I think that would do the job! Smile

Here's a tute for a t-shirt quilt, but it gives you the idea of how to go about it.

I'm not entirely sure what went wrong with my link Halloween Confused but yes, that is what I meant! The tutorial looks good, I'd never heard of t-shirt rulers before.
