Craft activity ideas for DDs birthday party tomorrow!

I was going to cancel the party due to lack of replies but after a not great week for the girls (joint party for 3 and 5 year old) and because DD2 was so excited about it I have decided to go ahead.

I have got some cards and envelopes, foam sticks, colouring pens, crayons and animal masks. It feels like I need something else as well, any ideas?

The craft stuff will be first followed by food and then some party games.

TIA

How about making fairy cakes or just decorating some you have already made.

Is there a hobbycraft near you? They have little cardboard chests that you can decorate with sparkly stick on gems or coulour in or whatever. Then that could be their party 'bag' that you fill with a few sweeties.

How about doing some beaded necklaces?

Decorating biscuits (get some hundreds n thousands and edible glitter?!)

Loads of ideas on Pinterest too!

use double sided sticky tape instead of glue, dries instantly so they can take them home right away and you don't left with piles of soggy crap masterpieces to distribute too

Have you got a laminator? Quite good for making something out of a picture they've done or coloured in - like a bookmark or badge or placemat?

I don't think you should kick off with the craft activities. I had a small kids party for when my DD was 3 and 4. The format was similar and roughly along the lines of: party game / free play/ party game / free play / food / craft activity / free play / party game. The kids will be excited when they first arrive so you want to do something like musical bumps (except for pass the parcel there weren't any winners - they just all kept playing whichever game it was until it looked like they were getting bored). I'd also read before that for young kids they do just want some time to play with the toys etc so you don't need to have something going on all the time.

But back to your original question! There should probably be an aim to what ever craft activity you choose. For the first party I'd bought some cardboard boxes with handles and foam stickers and they decorated those and they became their party bag. For the one this year they decorated biscuits - I'd bought the small tubes of icing in different colours (making sure there was enough to go around) and then some things they could stick on top e.g. chocolate chips.
