Using Quickutz in my bigshot - help...

I have just bought the Quickutz teapot die!

It's much tinier than I thought but it is cute.

to use it in my big shot I just put lots of shill layers in - but when I cut the shape, the paper was stuck into the die, so I had to get it off with a needle which spoilt the die cut Sad

How do you experts manage?!!

i'd have thought that it would work with just the plates and the white plate. if you're still having problems i'd put a piece of card on top of the cutting plates

I find I get this with QK dies if I use it in a normal sizzix. I try not to press too hard but I think that is the design of QK dies, and I'm not sure this is so easy to change with a Big Shot. Sometimes, I often cut a shape, and then do another one without removing the first one, but then the embossing isn't always as good.

Hmmm. Thanks for the responses. I have been wondering about the foam thingy - I couldn't work out if it was throwaway packaging or if not how to use it?!!!

I don't have an adaptor, I thought the big shot was suposed to take any die!

It is mousie- you need the foam over the die- its meant to stick there i think- have a look at the qc website for instructions

mousiemousie · 21/06/2006 17:21

Oh thank you Pixiefish I didn't even know there was such a site! It turns out that the foam whatsit is a sticker that you have to stick to the cutting surface of the die

Hope I haven't ruined my bigshot with my clueless attempts so far!

LOL at me- I had stuck the foam to the other side of the die- just changed them all over and they're so much better!

So thank you for this thread- will now have to order many more QK dies as I know what I am doing now!

Fiskars do a thin semi-transparent cutting pad, which I have discovered works great with Quickutz in the Big Shot.

I put the Quickutz face up, then I put the cutting side of the cutting mat on top, then the cutting pad on top of this and it gives a perfect cut each time! Some may need an extra piece of paper to act as a shim under the die - unless you have already used the clear shim that came with the die.

But, what is great about this method, is that the fiskars mat stops the scores on the Big Shot cutting pad from marking the card you are cutting!

The Fiskars cutting mat is slightly larger than A4, so you need to cut it in half to fit through the Big Shot.
