Quilt for a Chinese baby

This may sound a bit weird, but does anyone know if there are any big no-nos regarding colours/patterns for babies in China? I would like to make a baby quilt for a friend and his Chinese wife (who I have not yet met), and I remember about how a previous girlfriend of his was very keen on everything having the right Feng Shui. I don't want to make a massive faux pas by mistake.

I don"t know if there's anything specific to babies.

But generally, red is the most auspicious colour. And 4 is the unlucky number (the word is a homonym for death).

Hi. I think that white is meant to be unlucky as it symbolises death. Agree that red is a lucky colour.

Avoid white, as that can be connected with death and mourning. Red and Yellow are good choices for colour, with more red than yellow!

Thanks, that's exactly the sort of thing I needed to know. Are pointy things bad? I have some recollection of that from when I visited a few years back.
I've uploaded a picture of the sort of thing I had in mind; I was thinking of using more pastel colours as they are expecting a girl.

That quilt looks lovely. I'd go with the colours as they are in your photo. They may well want to use the blanket for a future baby, so it doesn't need to be for a specific gender.

Thank you! It wouldn't be identical as I don't have any more of some of the fabrics and I don't like to make exactly the same thing twice, but at least I'm on the right lines.
