Knitting in the round - how easy is it?

I'm an experienced knitter (have been knitting for 30 years!) but have never knitted in the round!

How easy is it?

A friend has just asked me to make her a gorgeous slouchy hat - but it's knitted in the round!

Help !

oh yes, i have to have on the go some plain knitting, some complicated lace, a sock etc... just so that i have the right knitting handy for whatever my mood!

I have lots of cant be arsed projects still unfinished!

I'm fairly rubbish at knitting (more of a crochet woman) but I have been having great fun knitting hexipuffs on dpns to make a Beekeeper's Quilt

I have only made 7 so far but they are VERY satisfying to make. As advertised, they are also amazingly portable. However, I do find that I have to concentrate quite intensely otherwise I totally forget where I am.

The only other time I have knitted in the round was on dpns to make a pair of socks which I disliked doing so much that I still only have one finished sock!

Have a go with the knitting in the round - I'm sure you'll be great.

Ah yes, Queen. The dreaded 'second sock syndrome'. I only do socks two at a time (on one long circular) as I KNOW that if I had to do them one after the other I would never do the second one!

Haha at second sock syndrome!

I do them on DPNs (so one at a time) and it is important to cast on the second sock the INSTANT you cast off the first! (And I have to keep track of any mods for the second sock too... I should try the two-at-a-time method)
