My lovely Nana reaches the ripe old age of 95 this weekend, she is no longer living at home, has everything she says she could need so has asked for no presents just for us all to have a nice family gathering Smile.

I was thinking back to a thread I read a while ago on here and sat down this afternoon and have written down 95 reasons why we love her, I was hoping to get a really nice notebook and write them at the front of the book, but I cant find one special enough, and thinking about it now, her eyesight is so bad a usual ruled book may not leave the writing big enough for her to read. So am looking for inspiration, maybe writing them in bold on index cards cut in 1/2 and putting them in something for her to pull out and look at? a Vase...oh I don't know is this a rubbish idea?

I just typed in 'images of note books' into my search engine, but it didn't really come up with anything inspiring. But it did make me realise that maybe for your Nana, it might be best to avoid ring/spiral bound styles, as it's not always easy to turn the pages without them getting caught up on their selves IYSWIM!.

What about using a really nice photo album ? That way you could add anything you like into the pages. So as well as all the reasons you love her, you could put photos, mementos, reminders of special days you've shared such as menus, theatre tickets, pieces of fabric, short stories or poems, etc (almost like scrapbooking really).

Or what about Self printing photo books on the web? Try www.snapfish.co.uk or www.blurb.co.uk or possibly one of the many other sites that are easily available. You can add text in too so it would be completely personalised!

Thanks shimmering will look at those websites now, sounds like a brilliant idea.

I bought a pretty plastic jar once and put reasons I loved my partner at the time on bright coloured squares of paper. He picked them out one by one when he needed a pick me up and said it was one of the best presents. Something like this might be nice.

What about a digital photo frame?

You could type in each reason as a 'slide' which would play as a sideshow.

Something like this

This may be a stupid suggestion, so please ignore it if it is, but what about recording them as voice messages? Maybe different members of the family reading a different message?
I got a video (showing my age!) for my 21st where a friend of mine went round to all my family and friends and filmed them wishing me happy birthday and some of them added lovely messages for me for the future. It was without doubt one of the best presents I have ever received and I still treasure it.

That's a lovely idea hopeforthebest my parents have got a camcorder so I could arrange that at the party as family are coming from all over the country she hasn't seen for years. I will go to craftworld and get some coloured card tomorrow Smile Mum said she has loads of vases at her old house but something like the Jar/box would work.
