Questions about dying clothes

I've bought some dylon hand dye to dye some of my DDs' clothes.
Will I get a dip dye effect if I gradually remove one of the items from the dye?
The t shirt that i want to dip dye is a chartreuse yellow colour and the dye is flamingo pink. Will it go a horrible colour?
Also one of the dresses has a printed design on. Will it disappear completely if I use dylon colour stripper?

Dip dye - just dunk the bit you want to colour. Then dunk it again a bit less, etc.

Yellow & pink may well end up a tad orangy, but it depends on how strong each one is. Could be rather nice!

Printing will not come off with colour stripper - that will stay and will not be covered by the dye.

You've inspired me to get some cheap teeshirts and do some dying with the DCs! Fond memories of making a duvet cover from 2 sheets and a matching pillow case when I was about 12 ... :-)

If you are hand dyeing, please make sure the item is cotton.

The dyes available for home dyeing will not colour artificial fabrics like nylon, polyester, etc.

If you are trying to dye a poly/cotton fabric, the end result will be a lighter shade than it's meant to be as the dye will only affect the cotton part of the fabric. Most of the artificial fabrics need a much higher temperature to take dye than is usually possible at home.
