i have just started playing with this and i think its fab, but so far have only coloured using gel pens that are smudging, either because i am not leaving for long enough to dry, or it is melting? any thoughts/tips/ideas on other ways to colour.

I tend to paint it after I've shrunk it. I also stick paper behind it after I've shrunk it. I also put a really thick outline using a permanent marker to make it stand out. I make tags with it and write on it before shrinking. Staz-on ink stamps as well are good. Any type of permanent felt pen would work. I tried acrylic paint and it didn't work

I LOOVE SP. I tend to use water colours/pencil before shrinking. Remember the colours intensify.

Some inks will never dry, you will need to use permenant inks such as staz-on or whispers- I use a basic black laundry marker for freehand drawings.

Have fun.

It doesn't really matter if you're no daVinci. The picture gets shrunk and looks loads better than it does big. i cut shapes with my Big Shot and also cut letters out to shrink

I love SP too. Have made some fab embellishments. It's really scary when it all curls up, but then so satisfying when it all goes flat!

LOL Gracesmum, you don't need to be an artist, I am far from it, but if you used the transparent SP I just trace simple line drawings and then add detail when colouring.
