highchair cover

So after searching high n low for a new cover that I like that will fit a chicco mamma chair ive decided to have a go at making my own. Can't be that hard can it? Anyone ever done it (I don't sew... I may end up doing a blanket stitch on the edges)

So advise required if you would be so kind!

Im going to buy some oil cloth or pul off the market then cut round the origional cover.. with a bit extra, turn it inside out sew it shuv the old foam in it and I should be good....right?

If you dont sew then a highchair cover may be a bit ambitious at first! Oilcloth is an absolute bitch to sew without a machine, it is very hard to get a standard needle through.

Rather than making a new oilcloth cover, what about making a cotton cover that goes on over the current cover that you tie on? Then you can remove it and wash it when it needs it. You could a make a few in different fabrics, or tie dye them!

Also, if you cock it up, a metre of cotton is far cheaper than a metre of oilcloth!

Hmm that is a thought. I was considering getting my mum to do the machining but to be honest I think she was trying to put me off oil cloth for that same reason. Perhaps pul might be better

Can you not just live with the one you have? Honestly, the cost and effort probably wont be worth it!

No its about ten years old and been through about 200 faster babies :-D so its ripped and its got a mismatched insert on top of it and if its to stay in my front room I want it looking cool
