Saw my first jelly roll in Hobby craft today and they do fat 1/4s, you could look on their site ?

A fat quarter is a a method of cutting a quarter of a yard (or metre) so that you get a square of fabric rather than a long strip

A jelly roll is a load of pieces of fabric that usually coordinate. Its just rolled up like a swiss roll (jelly roll in the USA)

A normal quarter yard would be a nine inch strip cut from the whole width of the fabric, so for 44" wide cloth it would measure 44"x 9".

A fat quarter is a piece of fabric where the width is cut in half (so for the example above it would be 22" wide) and then the length is cut at 18". So the fabric piece would be 22" x 18".

A jelly roll is a roll of fabric strips (again about 44" long) that are typically about 2.5" wide. There are great YouTube videos showing jelly roll races.
