Where do you buy your sewing patterns?

They are so expensive these days in our local shop, I thought maybe there would be more competitive prices online. Only every site seems to be American!

So where do you get yours, and how much do you pay? Thanks! Smile

Oh I'm interested in this too... shamelessly marking my spot.

Smile By all means!

I mostly get new ones from my local fabric shop, there's often sales on which come from the pattern companies rather than the individual shops. I don't stick to a particular brand, just get whatever is cheapest. If I'm looking for something specific, I use ebay for something that looks about right and alter it, although I only get used ones on ebay as new ones are often more expensive than in the shops. I've also used www.sewessential.co.uk/ and also sewing.patternreview.com/ (search for a pattern number to see reviews and photos of actual made up garments) to help me choose.

I draft some myself, buy from EBay and recently have started exploring PDFs. I like pattern runway

I have been using sewdirect.com as they had a sale on. They seem to be based in Havant and sell McCall, Butterick and Vogue. Their prices still look quite good.

I got mine from www.simplicitynewlook.com/ the last time they had a sale, was very happy with the delivery (and the patterns :D)

like harbinger I buy McCalls/Vogue/Butterick direct from Sew Direct, they offer 10% off and free postage. Etsy is also a great place to find vintage patterns and Ebay is brilliant too.

I invested £20 in a secondhand mono printer. There is a guy who sells it on eBay I live nearby and therefore just picked it up. These are laser printers that businesses stopped using because of an upgrade and buy PDF patterns online from wherever I find it, who is mostly Craftsy and Etsy. Most of them are $5-10 and if you convert that it's even cheaper in ££££ and its instant I don't need to wait for it to be delivered.
