Are these both the same? If not please explain the difference.
TIA :)

they are different techniques but look the same, so you can use whichever you prefer

Thanks, I should be ok if I follow patterns. I don't stand much chance of making my own patterns yet though. Still so much to learn!

Just came across ssp. What is that?

BornToFolk · 01/06/2013 20:45

ssp is slip, slip, purl.

I love the way Knitting Help shows different techniques for decreasing, and even has vides too!

Purlesque · 02/06/2013 08:34

Videos show different versions of ssp.
Some slip knit wise some purl wise.

BornToFolk · 02/06/2013 16:48

You might have to play around and see which you prefer - it won't any real difference to what you are doing, they might just look slightly different.
When I ssk, I always slip the first stich knit-wise but do the second one knit-wise or purl-wise depending on which looks neater. Wierdly, it seems to vary according to what yarn/needles I'm using!

Purlesque · 03/06/2013 14:21

I wouldn't know which is neater for which pattern etc.
I guess I'll just have to experiment.
