Pricing query please!

I am considering holding a craft stall locally at some time and I really need some ideas regarding pricing please.

Could you give me an idea of what to charge for something like this please.

I made this for a relative last year but would love to make some for other occasions such as birth congratulations, special birthdays...etc

I have a clue what I would charge. Has anyone any advice please? It would be much appreciated.

Figure out cost of materials, don't forget to include postage costs. How much time did it take to make? It looks fairly unique and is for a special occasion. I'm afraid I can't help with a figure, I think you are the only one with all the info required, just don't underprice/undervalue your work. It looks very intricate. Good luck.

I think most of my time does actually go into the faffing around designing, so if I could make a few at a time and then stick to a template/design it would cut down on my time.

I make clothes for children and a good rule of thumb is:

costs x 2 = wholesale price

3 (or 2 and half) x wholesale price = retail price.

Costs need to include everything, electricity/web site hosting/materials EVERYTHING!

I have sold at a lot of craft fairs. The worst part is pricing. If you find, after doing the sum dawntigga suggests, that the item is very expensive you need to relook at suppliers etc, also remember future items will (should) be made faster. However, if the item is cheap, you are probably not costing in everything. Time is the most difficult factor. For example, one of the things easiest to forget is the time spent selling. I think it's so tricky to cost, even for materials. It's not just silly things like the inks I use, the odd embellishment, or bit of lace, but how do I work out say the cost of the thing like the tools I use. My die cutter, dies, embossing folders, stamps......they are all fairly expensive items but I do obviously get to use them over and over again!

maybe look at yearly spend on equipment? Inkpad - £9? used 200 times = ? Stamps are expensive but last forever and are a resellable item. It is hard. You could guess, I suppose. Not very scientific. If your total cost of card and embellishments is, say, 1.25 you could add another .10 to cover ink, tools etc.
My head is now hurting!! I hope other card makers help out here. My craft work was much more straightforward!
