Repairing a lampshade.

I have a very lovely lampshade which is fine externally but the PVC "liner/fabric stiffener" has several cracks in it.
When the lamp is switched off these cracks are not visible at all but once it's on, the cracks show up and look awful.
Any idea if and how I could repair it?
I would like to rescue it if possible.

can you "scrape off" the lining?

not sure what I would do, but my instinct is to replace it with a plain lampshade for safety and simplicity.
then you can cut some heart shapes out of the old fabric and glue or sew to the new shade, to salvage the pretty fabric you like.

Scraping off the lining wouldn't be an option as it is very firmly stuck to the external fabric.
The cracks are literally hairline and I wondered if there was such a thing as an adhesive tape that could be used to fix this.
Sadly, it's not so much the fabric which I'm wanting to keep but the shade has gorgeous beaded trim and embelishments which make it look beautiful.
I doubt I could remove these well enough to be able to re-use them.
